Test phone numbers

Phone numbers let you receive SMS messages in Mailosaur. Each phone number is dedicated to your account and linked to an inbox — any SMS sent to that number appears as a message in the linked inbox.

Number types

Standard numbers

Standard numbers are available for the following countries and are provisioned immediately:

  • United Kingdom (UK)
  • United States (US)
  • Canada

Pricing for standard numbers is available on the Mailosaur pricing page.

Premium numbers

Premium numbers are available for countries outside the UK, US, and Canada. To set up a premium number, contact the Mailosaur support team, who will guide you through the process. Some countries have additional regulatory requirements (such as address verification), which will be discussed during setup.

Messaging support

Mailosaur supports any type of SMS message, including plain text messages and OTP codes. Some numbers also support MMS — contact the support team if you are unsure whether your number supports MMS.

Replying to SMS

You can reply to SMS messages from within Mailosaur. If you are replying using a US number, that number must be set up for 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) compliance. The Mailosaur support team can set up 10DLC for you.

Sending SMS

Outbound SMS sending is available to certain Enterprise customers only. Contact the sales team to learn more.

Set up a phone number

  2. Click Add phone number.
  3. Select the country for your new phone number from the available options.
  4. Select the inbox to link the phone number to.

The number is assigned randomly. If you need a specific area code, contact the sales team.

The number of phone numbers available to your account depends on your plan. If you need more, contact the sales team.

Change the inbox linked to a phone number

You can reassign a phone number to a different inbox. After the change, new SMS messages sent to that number appear in the new inbox. Existing messages remain in the original inbox.

  1. Navigate to the Phone numbers section, or click the edit icon next to the inbox name in the inbox's phone numbers tab.
  2. Find the phone number you want to reassign.
  3. Select the new inbox from the dropdown.
  4. Click Move phone number.

Delete a phone number

  1. Navigate to the Phone numbers section.
  2. Find the phone number you want to remove.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

What happens when you delete a phone number

  • The phone number is released and can no longer receive SMS messages.
  • Existing SMS messages in the linked inbox are not affected.
  • When you next set up a phone number, any previously deleted numbers are automatically reassigned before a new number is provisioned.
